Who: Dennis Morton and the Amateur Astronomers Association of Pittsburgh (3ap.org) invite campers and community to attend.
Why: To view far and distant objects in the night sky.
What: Yourself, eyes to view distant and faint objects, your curiosity,
Bring: telescope big or small to share with others, binoculars for lunar observing, and a flashlight.
During the Chapman State Park Star Party we will be observing the Moon, Saturn, Ring Nebula M57, Hercules Cluster M13, Fall Constellations, Stars and will have discussions on light pollution.
If it is raining or cloudy on Saturday, August 6, 2011 the evening activities will be cancelled. The park naturalist will conduct a program on Planets which will include hands-on activities and the Eyewitness Movie: Planets. This program will be held at Pavilion 4 in the event the above activities are cancelled.
